Nassau University Medical Center, NY

If you were not aware, AUC just signed a contract with Nassau Hospital in Long Island, NY. Starting in September, they will have between 60-70 spots (possibly adding more eventually), and offer all of the cores, as well as many electives. I had lunch with many of the department heads today, and they were very friendly and seemed very eager to have us start there. I think this is gonna be a very popular spot for AUC students. Looks like YT is coming through on his promise to get us more (and better) clinical rotations.

Oh...and they also made it a point to stress that they will have very good student to resident ratios with lots of teaching (no more than 1:2), and specifically mentioned that this would be in contrast to another popular NY AUC hospital.

one thing at a time...a new hospital with all the cores, plus more spots at two existing hospitals, would be a bit much for AUC to do all at once

Do not misinform people LMX1B. At our 5th semester meeting we were told that the hospital HAS NOT signed the contract yet. While they are very likely to, they have not actually put a signature on the line and it was stressed several times.

Was that today? Because the hospital people said today that it was signed Friday. They didn't seem like the type to lie. Also, I don't know why they would bring all those department heads to the island and get everyone excited if they hadn't actually signed, or it wasn't a sure thing.

Specifically, when I lead their tour and they told me where they were from, I asked why the student body hadn't heard yet, since they'd likely be very excited about this. They said it was probably because they just signed Friday.

They are ACGME in 15 specialties. Nice.

Something tells me AUC's millions will help them with their 240million dollar renovation...lol
