Test Schedule Next Semester Have FUN....

To all incoming students:

Block scheduling has arrived at AUC just in time for you so you can look forward to having Anatomy at 8:30/ Biochem at 1:00 on friday (same day!) and Embryo 8:30 and Biostaistics 1:00 on Monday (same day).....

Rumor is this change came about from some low attendance the day before exams and attendance overall in a few classes. how will this increase attendance the day before exams? if anything it will increase.
simple fact is that each teacher has their own teaching style that some students don't respond to. i know for a fact that most of the profs here i learn from and two so far that i couldn't follow for the life of me. i need to maximize my time.

then again most of the rumors so far have been wrong....i'm so confused but at least i don't have anatomy and bichem on the same day...cheers and back to neuro

I shudder at the thought of having Micro and Path exams on the same day... :P

Dean Thurman met with our class and told us the reason for block scheduling is not because of attendance but rather to keep students from neglecting some classes in order to pull a grade up from another class. Apparently the situation has been as such, a student does bad in an anatomy exam and neglects biochem in order to pass anatomy. Then what happens is he fails a biochem exam and is in jeopardy of failing both anatomy and biochem.

He said class attendance is strictly a US Dept of Education requirement.

so that is the pc reason

there are teachers who specifically take attendance in their classes outside the doe reqs. when you are failing one class and doing ok in another one there is no question that i would devote more time into the failing one. its a gamble and doesn't work all the time the best you can do is make an educated gamble i mean if you consistently get 60's in anatomy and need 80 to pass chances are it ain't gonna happen. i don't mind the test schedule its just going to be killer for 1st semester i mean anatomy and biochem same day? i guess if you start out like that you get used to it its just hard to imagine taking a trotz exam after lecture/lab anatomy...
