at the 1st semester Dorm Meeting today, with Dr. G and C from Netstar, they told us that the notes drives are accessible this semester from the dorms and that Angel will be ready for the dorms in the coming weeks
They also told us not to download any torrents from 2-6pm ..... easy for me to stop torrents when it takes 5 days for 1 Lost episode

on a similar note to IT... are we allowed to use the projectors in the lecture halls on off hours? Specifically, is there a place on campus where we can use VGA/DVI connection between our laptops and some sort of large screen - both for academic study groups and for the occasional leisurely movie?

Notes drive was accessible from the dorms 3 semesters ago, just very few people knew how to actually do it (it was just a different address). However, the internet was so rarely working properly, that it wasn't' worth it to access. I suppose it's a start to put Angel in the dorms, but not a very good one since there's currently no content on it.

They also told my class not to download any torrents from 2-midnight (basically, just download while people were asleep). I told C, in front of the [now defunct] dean of computers, that I would be glad to only download after midnight...when they were able to provide reasonable download speeds. But, as long as they felt it necessary to throttle, I'd be downloading all day, every day, with encryption turned on, so there was nothing they could do about it.

they play movies on fri and sat nights. i highly doubt they will allow random students (not part of an organized group) to use the projectors. those things have enough problems as is

"They" is the movie guy (part of SGA) and he chooses the movies. They take suggestions though. The movie guy just moved onto clinicals though and I'm not sure who, if anyone, has taken his place.
