Looking to transfer

I am possibly wanting to transfer from MUA to AUC...
I have not taken the MCATs; will this be an issue?
Is it difficult(do you know anyone who has transferred to AUC from another caribbean school?)
Also, I tried to access the clinical list from the site, but it prompts me for a password. Help, anyone?

Advanced Standing Transfer

I'm applying right now to transfer without MCATS. I was told it is waived with passing USMLE scores and that any transfer must start with the 5th semester, because at least 50% of the curriculum must be completed at AUC in order to obtain their degree.

I should also add that I am willing to take at least %50 percent of my classes at AUC. I still have a loooong ways to go!

Ans i do not understand why they take 5th sem. transfers if they require you to have most of your education there?

If you are applying before you take the USMLE, you must have an MCAT score. you can't complete the basic sciences at AUC without it. If you take from 5th semester on, then you've done 2 out of 4 years at AUC...thus 50%.

just curious, what is the main reason why you both are trying to transfer to auc? is there a real advantage? is there a problem with your school's rotations or the location of them?

Remember, if you transfer from one caribbean school to another it may cause PROBLEMS with future licensing

No, I cannot help you get a residency.

Apply Now.....Get an MD in 6 Weeks....

If you fail at AUC, SGU, or Ross why not transfer to SMU, if you fail at SMU, why not try another SMU.

Transfer

They make you go back and take 5th semester because that will put you over the >50% requirement. Basically, you can't just take the last two years... you have to do that, plus one basic science semester. Therefore, you have done more than 2 of the 4 years of medical education with them.

I'm am trying to transfer to obtain greenbook rotations. I realize that I still would have licensing issues in states like Texas and I still would not be able to work in states like California. At this point, I am not willing to gamble with IAU anymore, I think that's more of a problem in the future not having greenbook rotations -- when you compare it with having to show transfer history to a licensing board.

I'm sure someone else will ask why didn't I go to a better school/plan ahead/ etc. The answer is I just didn't know. I hope posts like this will help others. I'm just glad I have a good back-up with nursing. It's not the best, but I make twice my resident's salary while working only 3 days a week.

well first of all, you are not going to need a backup with nursing. transfer or not, you got a 91 on step 1 and could quite possibly get a 99 on step 2. you will be a resident and a future doctor, trust me.

Thanks

Thanks Scott.

It's been a wild ride so far, I got rejected from Ross (who I thought took everyone) and got an interview booked with AUA (who didn't seem interested over the phone) all in one day.

You make $90,000/yr working 3 days a week as a nurse? Not any kind of nurse I've ever heard of...
