Still seems like a lot, even for a CRNA, working 3 days a week. I would have thought that a CRNA would call himself a CRNA though, not a nurse.

I wish

No, I'm looking at CRNA programs right now as back up if I can't transfer anywhere that has greenbook. I'm sure CRNA's make more than 100k, my mom makes over that being a staff nurse with over-time in Dallas. Don't forget, full time is only 3 days a week @ 12 hour shifts.

Starting salary at Wyckoff for staff nurse is close to $70k. Add shift differential ($4k), bachelors ($2k), post-bachelors education for medical ($1500), and 1+ year experience ($1500), brings it close to $80k. Of course, I get hit hard on taxes, close to 38%.

Sorry about the low resident estimate, I rounded down to $40k then double that for resident salary. I went off my fiance's salary who was a peds resident at Maimo. My sister actually gets paid close to $50k at JFK in Edison, NJ for PM & R. I don't really know if there are large differences between fields during residencies, but that's way off this topic thread now.

what state are you looking to practice in? is it a state that requires all greenbook core rotations? if it does, is there a loophole in the state law that allows you to get licensed there if you become board certified? even if you dont get to transfer, i think it would be horrible just to give up.... and remember, you cant take the usmle again..... the clock already started to click in some states that require you to finish all steps within 7 years.

You probably should start clinicals with your school. You will have to explain this gap of abscences from your medical education to some state licensing board. It will not be pretty, since they usually require what you did for each month you were away from school. It may hinder your licensing even if you transfer to another school.

Goal, not to kill anyone during my first month of residency.

No, I cannot help you get a residency.

Apply Now.....Get an MD in 6 Weeks....

If you fail at AUC, SGU, or Ross why not transfer to SMU, if you fail at SMU, why not try another SMU.

I would like to keep Texas and New York availible since I'm already licensed as an RN in those states. I'm aware of the 7 year rule for USMLE but I didn't know of the board certified loopholes for the greenbook requirement, I'll look into it.

Haha, transfer vs. greenbook vs. gaps of education --- I'm trying to weigh all evils.

Just be aware that if you want to practice in California, you might have to start from Med 1 again.

Exclamation Yep!

$90K is no problem for an RN at all. At least where I am in NY. BTW, if one works flex shifts (3 days or nights x 12 hours) there still is a load of time to make more. For example in 1990s I cleared $130K by hitting home care visits. With new OASIS paper work it's not that hot anymore. But trust me $90K is no sweat to make for an RN today. CRNA I know, who is a sole anesthesia provider to a plastic sergeon in Fairfield, CT clears close to $250K. She does her own billing, and has been in the business for a long time. Obviously there are expense associated with running Your own "shop", but $90K and CRNA don't even go in one sentence in NY, unless it's a part-time gig. But I just hope the OP doesn't have to "fall back" on nursing. PPL who have been in the health care field for some time rarely go to med school simply "to make more money". Trust me.

absolutely....even just a straight RN in a place like CA can bank over 100K, no problem
