Admissions---very concerned student

Hello ValueMD Friends,

I have been struggling in 1 course this sem, Organic Chem I. I MIGHT have to re-take it if I don't fare too well. I know I can do better if I re-take it. My efforts in this class aren't nonexistent, nor are they sub-par. My prof does not give ANY partial credit for anything on the exam. Its bad. But anyways, how would I fare (as far as admission into the school) at AUC if i retake the class? I am determined to become an MD and I will do w/e it takes to get there. My two schools of choice are AUC and SGU. I have head SGU is ok with this.

Thanks

i had to retake a class or two before AUC and here i am. mine were math classes though. sorry to hear about the lack of partial credit, but at least you are getting used to it early as there is NO partial credit in your med school course work or the usmle

yea, but what class have you taken in med school that wasnt multiple choice (beside anotomy lab practicals)?

nothing like having to show step by step how to convert benzene into tri-nitro-toluene.

Retake, do lots of practice, Organic Chem is about practice, get a good grade and you will be fine.

I retook a few courses to inflate my GPA. Do your best in the course to get as high of a grade as possible. It may look better repeating a class for a "C" than a class for a "D". Good luck with the nucleophilic addition excitement.

No, I cannot help you get a residency.

Apply Now.....Get an MD in 6 Weeks....

If you fail at AUC, SGU, or Ross why not transfer to SMU, if you fail at SMU, why not try another SMU.

Those are now multiple choice tests. Only the mock exam is not.

I failed a few classes, including bio lab and chem 101, but re-took them, got A's, and I'm now at AUC.
