the gym that the MSA posts on their website is not the gym anymore.
the gym is located across from the dorms in a separate building. The gym has dumbells ranging from 5-90 pounds, about 6 benches, 2-3 of which can be turned into incline. It has a fly machine, and two machines on which you can do rows, pulldowns, legs, and shoulder/chest. not sure what the machine is called. the cardio machines only have 2/3 working max at a time, which isnt that fun. Mirrors were also put up around the free weight area and several other areas, and TV's should be installed sometime soon also. overall its a fairly good gym, that majority of the lifters and regular staying in shape use. There is a gym at the royal palm which some students use. its abotu 150 for the semester. The weights and machines are old, and stuff is often broken there, plus you have to deal with locals. When high season starts the gym is in-accesible due to traffic. |

Well the pictures on MSA's website are outdated....that's no longer the gym. But, the new one is not a whole lot better. There are two in simpson bay that are nicer. One is air conditioned, the other is not. I joined the air conditioned one, which is in a hotel, and it was pretty nice. It definitely was not as nice as what you could find back home, but it was adequate and much nicer than AUC's.

Interweb hostility...gotta love it!
The gym is fine for weight lifting, but you're better off running outside for cardio...there are about 2 working treadmills on a good day. |

ive never been to marcys which doesnt have A/C, but the gym at the royal palm is garbage.
the weights are old, and the machines are even older. at least our school has weights made post WWII. And the A/C doesnt even work there half the time so saying they have an A/C is an understatement. our schoool gym has A/C that always works. If you are looking to lift heavy/lift for looks or w/e your deal is, the school gym is fine. if your a hardcore powerlifter, no our school gym prob. wont suit ur needs, but either will any other gym on this island. Id advise you to keep your money and use it for anything else, rather than sign up for a gym where u prob wont even be wanted. Theres a reason why no students work out at the royal palm anymore. |

Whoa whoa whoa Mr. Judgemental, I am not being hostile at all...just wondering about the gym. Unlike some medical students, I will not spend 24 hours a day studying. I will make time during the week to blow off some steam. Geez I wouldn't wanna get in the way of the big bad unhappy AUC med student at the gym. I'm shaking in my boots.
