the secret to cheap living:

what you learn as a mustang geek:

get frebbies, sell them, and use to buy essentials. i used to build race engines for less than $300 with nitrous....

i got a couple of pdr's and harrison's from drug reps, sold them came up with cash for first semester books hooked up with someone in the semester ahead of me buy all his books, hooked up with someone in the semester behind me and sell him all mine for the same cost...end product is i spend $0 each semester the $15 was for an embryo brs i ended up never using....i hate buying books specially when they cost me money.

stryer biochem?

i took biochem as an undergrad about a year ago (my teacher sucked and all she did was give us take home tests so i didn't learn a damn thing). the book we used was Berg, Tymocko and stryer 5th edition. has anybody used this book and if so is it pertinent to biochem taught at AUC?

I used Stryer in undergrad (almost 10 years ago!)...I remember it was big and blue and really heavy. The current text is by Champe and Harvey and is more mediacally oriented Biochemistry (i.e., written to prepare you for boards). Not a bad book, but I supplemented with BRS.

Aloha,

Aloha,
The newest edition of Stryer is greenish colored(the one before it was red and the one previous to that was purplish). It is pretty good for some diagrams but it is not a medical biochemistry book so I would get Champe and Harvey. If you want, bring Stryer down as a reference or you can check it out from the library(they have around 4 copies or so along with a whole shelf of other biochem text). I would suggest getting diagrams mainly out of Biochemistry by Voet & Voet since they have some of the best diagrams around and the others out of Champe and Harvey.

Jon and I differ in our view of BRS biochem, I think the diagrams are far and few. I touched it once and never opened it again.

i recommend enjoying your time off before coming here. 16 weeks should be plenty of time to learn anatomy, mcb and histo
