Would you current AUC students recommend AUC to a prospective student?

I hope this can be a constructive discussion.

    AUC recommendation...

Si senior. Sometimes I think medical school was made to see how much knocking down and getting back up a person could take. If I had to do it again, I would do it in a heartbeat. I remember dabbling in transferring to a US school. The secretary said I would be required to take the second year over. Now, if I had to this again, I would say he!! no!!!! Are you freakin kiddin me? Good luck

If you fail at AUC, SGU, or Ross why not transfer to SMU, if you fail at SMU, why not try another SMU.

Assuming you have exhausted all of your US options, I would recommend AUC. I wouldn't go to any other caribbean school.

I've got mixed feelings on the matter. Yes, I think AUC is a great school and especially if you didn't get into a U.S. school, then this is the opportunity to become a doctor even if your grades aren't status quo in the States. The school has a good reputation and equally good residency placements. However, the school is very disorganized as far as administration and they like the switch things around on you at the last minute, which makes it very frustrating. Examples of which are changing the testing schedule to a much more difficult schedule to deal with because they say they didn't have enough ppl or needed to accommodate everyone, not providing good enough security around the immediate vicinity of the campus (the campus security is fine for on campus matters), and not getting with the local government to ensure that they don't make us have St. Maarten driver's licenses. These things are a few examples of reasons I would have second thoughts about AUC if I was starting again.
Would I go here again knowing what I know now? I don't know. I'm glad to have this opportunity, but remember that this a for profit school and that you're paying for your opportunity.

You can get federal loans at AUC, right? Is it cheaper than Ross? Is federal loans enough to cover all of your expenses? Is it easy as Ross to get into AUC?

yes, i would recommend it. however, if you can get into a us med school, stay in the US and go. study hard for the mcat, and if you can't get that score, then well, try auc or other caribbean schools.

yes you can get federal loans. not sure how ross and auc stack up price wise, but they are probably similar. a thousand dollars here or there is not going to make a huge difference in the long run.

auc might be a little bit more competitive than ross, since ross has very large class sizes
