no, i never said that. i'm just saying the internet goes down a lot... along with electricity and water. i like stability of the internet. when it goes down, it gets frustating.

Internet, water, power all go down. Even GEBE was shut down for over a month two semesters ago due to an internet wire getting cut. Personally, I would not pay for the internet in the dorms. I did have a roommate who had caribserve installed in our dorm room. It worked well for that semester.

i must apologize! my interpretation of your comment was completely out of context and generalized, when, in reality, it simply referred to the topic of internet connectivity. i am sorry.

i'm certain there are. i do believe, however, that the level of one's displeasure is directly proportional to the degree of unrealistic expectations one has upon arrival. i am choosing to believe in the philosophy that by erasing any trace of good expectation regarding sint maarten, i will undermine the chances of my getting disappointed. extreme, i will admit, but it seems to work in many situations...let's see where it takes me here.

Just because you don't expect anything doesn't mean you won't miss what you don't have (namely, reliability and customer service).

To be fair, when we gripe, it's mainly about the Dutch Side. The service on the French side is wonderful, as is the food.

which is why I'm living on the French side now. The food is good on the Dutch side too though. I never really ate much on the French side because its such a pain to get through marigot.

French food is good, but it was soo expensive. I usually stuck to good old McDonalds and the famous 99 cent double cheeseburger. The Dutch side does have the most problems. French side is not too bad.
