Wyckoff surgery core ?

I am considering doing my core surgery rotation in Brooklyn. I'd appreciate some info from anybody who might have any insight into the hospital in general and the surgery rotation in particular. Any help/advice from any current students or alums would be great. Thanks in advance!

Wyckoff sucks

This hospital sucks...if you don't care about surgery than go here. It is a D.O. program, you do lots of scut work but the hours are easy and the call is q7 or more depending on how many students there are. Wyckoff usually has two dozen students or more per these rotations.

I was at Union Memorial in Baltimore. BEST rotation I ever did, great surgical experience, you will work but enjoy what you do.

wyckoff surgery core

hi there, yes Iam currently signed up for surgery november 14 at wyckoff
but Im currently 6 months almost 7 months pregnant
and I would like to know how the hours are , like what time you go in ... in the morning and what time you leave in afternoon, is it true its q7 on call
please if anybody could tell me as much information from this surgery core I would be veyr happy
I am seriously considering doing easier electives until the baby is born due to the amount of stress standing up for long periods of time,,, but at the same time I need to have my surgeyr core done with before baby is born
thanks for all your help

you should do an elective, surgery is rough no matter where you are. the hours vary by program and while it maybe q7 call the rst of the time you are constantly on your feet running everywhere. then there is the psychological stress that they throw at you...sorry but fluctuating hormones will probably make you more sensitive to the **

Yes but the difficulty is that down the road, not for residency, but when you apply for your full state licensure and you provide all the documented details of which cores and electives you did and at which institutions. Some states are going to be looking at it with a magnifying glass while others won't give 2 hoots. If anyone finds this a concern needs to contact that states licensing directorship and get the skinny for his/her needs.

Once again, just to reitterate, the sky is NOT falling. That is all. You may continue your dreary and mundane lives.
