Directv or Dish Network on SXM?

does anyone know of any of these satellite cable providers work on the island? i'm assuming they might, considering all you need is a direct view straight to the sky towards the satellite.

i'm thinking about doing this for TV and internet, that way i can avoid the drama of any of the island companies.

I haven't seen any directTV or dish network satellite dishes here. All of the satellite dishes seem to be the old larger ones. Almost everyone just buys illegal cable boxes though, so you don't have to deal with the cable company anyway. I don't know of anyone that's actually paying for cable.

I've heard of people paying for satellite TV.......not sure of the company though, hopefully someone will chime in. I know for a fact that people do it though...maybe run a search.....I seem to remember reading some guy talking about installing his own satellite on top of a Solutions-owned building.

it wasnt a solutions owned building at the time and i dont think the building is solutions managed anymore. my dish is still sitting up on the corner of bleu azur if anyone is interested about the size of the dish. the company is called direclinks and it was dish network programing. its was a great deal and i had league pass . the location was along the road facing the salt pond in phillipsburg. i remember it as a storefront near officeworld plus or minus a few stores down. best thing to do is drive down that road and look at all the storefronts.

yeah, but they're all the large satellites, I think. I haven't seen any small direct TV type dishes.

Were you able to get internet through the dish? Or do they not offer that?

Directv should work (in fact I thought about bringing one to the island in January) all you need is a US billing address.

It's the same sky and it's the same space so, why wouldn't it work?
