caribserve...how long does it take to get it setup?

I'll either be living in aventura or somewhere in simpson bay next semester, and I was wondering how/when to get caribserve.

Does anyone know how the process works?

How long does it take to get everything setup?

I heard the Aventura place has the equipment wired in each room, but we have to get it activated.

yea when i was living there they were in the process of getting the dsl modems in each room. since that was in the summer, i think its done by now. you need to sign up with caribserve to get a username and password. some people go to the mailbox in simpson bay to do this......just tell them you are living with solutions and you dont need the antenna thing. they should know about that.

or you can go to the place in philipsburg....its past the down town area and the trash pond, up on the side of the hill at the end of the road.

once you pay your money, they should be able to get your SN and password. you might have to harass them a lot to get it, because they will be very happy with themselves after they get your money and might forget they have to give you your stuff.

    good luck

90% sure i'll be in Aventura... so if I pay them and setup an account, do they activate it fairly quickly?

Do you still live in aventura? if so, how has it been lately?

    any major issues/problems?

would you really want anything other than caribserve? Their customer service may suck...but that's sort of the status quo here, isn't it? And, at least when it works...it works well.

The other day, I noticed that caribserv was out...I called them up and the lady on the other end said that they were working on it and that she would call me when it was back up and running.....so I rolled my eyes and thought to myself "yeah, right." Sure enough, an hour later she called my cell to let me know it was back on. So far I've been pretty happy w/ caribserv. Just be careful how you position your antenna (if you end up going that route)........I just moved to a new apartment literally 50 yards from my old apt and the connection is MUCH FASTER...w/ the same package.

Pretty sure those antennas are line of sight...if they're off a degree, it could make a big difference.
