Just wondering

I think that one day AUC will gain LCME accred. based on what happened in puerto rico with all schools (even San juan Buatista - called LCME to confirm) gaining LCME accred. I think that since AUC is on U.S. teritory and has had a gr8 reputation it is the next most likely candidate. My question is: if i graduate from AUC and in ten yrs, and it gains LCME accred. would I still be considered a FMG and have to deal with the ECFMG and red tape or would all of that be lifted and my degree honored as a U.S. allopathic M.D.? (sketchy question I know but with AUC being on U.S. territory I don't see why not, even before other big 3- big 5 schools schools (Ross, SGU, SMU, SABA) that are not on U.S. soil.

first of all....AUC is NOT on US territory whatsoever. second, LCME is only given to medical schools in the US and canada. last time i checked puerto rico was a territory of the United States. third, i wouldn't worry about some retroactive situation like you are describing since it clearly states that LCME accredits allopathic schools in the US and canada.

hahahaha...this post actually made me laugh out loud, and that's rare! So many problems with this post...

1) SXM is in dutch territory, owned by Holland! US has no claim here whatsoever.
2) There is no big 5 - SMU is not there, ever. SMU doesn't have 50 state approval, Saba doesn't have US federal loans
3) We're not going to get LCME accreditation, so don't worry about it. They only deal with US and Canadian allopathic schools
4) Even if it did get LCME accreditation, which it won't, you would still not have graduated from here when it had it, so it wouldn't apply to you. Similar to how even if SMU got CA approval, students who already graduated from there still wouldn't be able to get licensed in Cali.
5) Once you've got your residency, there's no more red tape. ECFMG isn't involved at that point. You will never be a US allopathic graduate, because AUC is not in the US, or even close. You will, however, be an MD, which is all that matters once you get your residency.

hahahaha..."US soil".....boy do I wish!

Ohh wait there is a French side too. I know what you mean by leaving them out. The school sits on the Dutch side and that's all that really matters.

Yes, I'm aware that the island is more than half French. But, that fact is inconsequential to this argument. Both because AUC is on the dutch side and because France isn't owned by the US either.

I think I meant to write "AUC" though, not "SXM."

When you order stuff online and get a drop down menu for country what do you put? I've yet to come across one that has Netherlands Antilles listed.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. I just applied to AUC for May 2008 and was wondering, you all who applied for May how long it took to hear back after your application was complete? I did a few searches on this, but results were kind of old...Thanks guys.
