you'll appreciate even more once you're off the island for good.

Surgery anyone?

I'm a may 2008 applicant and noticed on the website that there are not many surgery residency matches at AUC, but there was a Nuerosurgery residency oddly enough. Is the reason for the low number of surgical residency placements b/c AUC students are not getting them (scores, bias etc) or b/c AUC is directed towards primary care? I guess what I'm asking is If you wanted surgery is AUC a good choice?

As Kemper said, surgery itself is getting fairly competitive these days. But if you have the scores, then you CAN get it.

definitely doable especially if you have good board scores and great LOR.

Has anyone from AUC gone Optho (the website only shows residency placements for the past three years)? I hear mixed things about IMG's and optho. If anyone has any thoughts, especially if you know of an IMG matching optho, it would greatly be appreciated.

again, anything is doable; some more difficult than others. all depends on good board scores. nothing is impossible.

yes you can do it but it will be tough. just dont come in here with your heart set on opthalmology because if you arent able to swing it, you might be upset if your mindset is opthalmology or bust.
