As with living in any foreign country (I have spent extended time in both Sweden and Kenya), there will be things you will miss from home (and things you absolutely hate about the country you are in).

I am sure when we put a few years between us and our time on St. Maarten, we will forget most of the bad and look back on the interesting times we had!

(woo hoo! This is my 100th post!)

I've forgotten everything that I didn't like about the US, after being here for a while. Now, especially once GW is out of office, I think the US is heaven on earth and can do no wrong. I even appreciate the Popeyes employees now when I go home for breaks. 1 more day until I get 4 days back home!!

Lol, yes I know the feeling (though not about US vs SXM). Living abroad makes you thankful for all the little things (like actual fast food, good roads, great higher education, people with a work ethic....) that make the USA so wonderful

haha...sounds like you already live here, because those are most of the exact things that I miss while I'm here. Especially the work ethic part.

Lol, I was reading your blog and saw your post on ordering food at the "fast food" place - it reminded me of eating at this hamburger place in Mombasa.

In Kenya they have a saying "Hakuna Matata, Pole Pole" a swahili term which means "There is no problem, slowly slowly"...

I would imagine that this sentiment is much the same on St. Martin, from what I have been reading.

Congrats again, but can you stop with the alhamdulillah now? You got in because of things that you did somewhere along the way, so just be proud of that!
