i know in LA, the garbage men get paid more than EMTs

Actually, working as a flight medic I cleared $70,000/year easily...

i would hope a flight medic gets paid more than an EMT-B

Whoever said EMS = earn money sleeping clearly never worked in Baltimore City, or probably any major city. Firefighting, on the other hand....

My starting pay as an ALS provider there was 31,000...kinda sucked!

My favorite (and more accurate) abbreviations was always ALS = ain't lifting sh**

Hahaha. Never heard that one, but very true. Although, I usually had the EMT handle the vitals. That was along the same lines as lifting bags or patients when a fire truck was nearby.
