You need above a 23 with a 3.9 to get in?
Thank you for your time. I talked to a person today, and he said I need a 23 or higher to get into septembers class even though I have a 3.9. Is this true? I appreciate your knowledge.

Unless that person was someone in MEAS, I wouldn't give it too much credibility. However, anything below a 23 is very low, with any GPA, and may hurt your chances. That being said, there are people in this August class with below a 23, so you've at least got a chance.

The point they are making is that you can get a 3.9 GPA at some joke community college or easy college but everyone takes the same MCAT, so the MCAT is more important in this case.
I mean, how does a person get almost all A's in classes and then bomb the MCAT? |

Also, it's plenty easy to get A's in classes and bomb the MCAT. Just because you get an A in a class doesn't mean you learned anything, could have all just been memorized. If you don't study at all for the MCAT, you're probably not going to do very well. So while you would think that someone capable of getting all A's in college should be able to get a good MCAT score (and you'd probably be right), it doesn't mean they will. I think the point they were trying to make is that anything below (or including) a 23 on the MCAT is just very low!

Community colleges and easy universities all fall under the same rubric of fast-food educations that are tailered to pass the majority and reward those who do more than the bare minimum. That's not even taking into consdieration the possibility of taking a super-easy major and the science pre-reqs.
That's not the point, though. The point is that if you can get straight A's a couple B's for 4 years straight, then you better mean the mean on the MCAT (26+). There is no excuse to get less than 8 on each section if you did well on taking tests and stuidying concepts in undergrad. UNLESS YOU CHEATED YOUR WAY THROUGH UNDERGRAD. Didn't the minimum MCAT for AUC used to be 21 a couple years ago? Things can't change that much in two years. Quote:
