i do think there is some merit to using the mcat as an equalizer when it comes to comparing students from different institutions. after all, it's another standardized tests which we all have to embrace at some point, especially coming from AUC or elsewhere where it kind of puts you on equal footing with other students.
a superior GPA with a substandard MCAT can raise some questions about the integrity of the GPA, but of course there are other explanations....sick the night before, didn't study enough, etc.

actually things can change a lot in 2 years. AUC has increased its standards so they can have quality students to be a physican. also, AUC is now suppose to be affiliated with SDSU. The late Dr. G setup the affiliation with SDSU. It took him a long time to do it. things will change at AUC. as time goes on, it will be more difficult to get into the top caribbean medical schools. it's the same with ross or SGU. both schools are harder to get into now than a few years ago.

I agree that AUC is positioning itself to be top 1 or 2 in the Caribbean.
I guess the smaller class sizes allowed for the jump since AUC does not accept 300-400 people per semester like Ross of SGU. What effect will the SDSU affiliation have on AUC students? Quote:

i think it means they have an agreement with san diego state so theres a guaranteed admission program if you have a certain gpa and mcat
probably good for publicity also
