important question

ok, so i have a question, i was recently accepted to AUC (american university of the caribbean) for the january 2008 term with a 23 (june 15) and 3.5

After i reiceved my scores i was prepping to retake the test in september, but became very ill on test day. When i was taking practice tests for the june test, i was makin around 25-26, but when i was prepping for the september test, i was in the 30-32 range. My question is, should i take the mcat in January and start a US med school in 2009 of august, or should i just go to the caribbean and start in jan 2008? Please help me, i really don't know what to do

I would start at a US medical school in '09 (since you're so confident that you'll get in)

What makes you so sure you'll get accepted into a US school with a 32? The score you haven't even got yet?

jumping from a 23 to a 32 on the MCAT can be difficult. if you truly believe that you can score a 32, then by all means, decline the acceptance to AUC (or postpone) and try for a US Medical School. however, people with a 3.5 and a 32 on the MCAT can be rejected.

Definitely try the MCAT again and get your booty to a US med school. Worst case scenario, you get into AUC again.

nevertheless if he can obtain a good MCAT score he reaches a reasonable shot for getting in in the US in which case he should NOT go to smu.

that is rhetorical to the point of uselessness. he explained the circumstances. with a good GPA even without an excuse for a poor mcat score he should give it a try again to get into the us. with a 32 and gpa of a 3.5 one stands an excellent chance.

It is only a rhetorical question if you don't think about it. Several people I know, myself included, did not get in with similar or better scores. I don't know how long ago you applied to med school, but a 3.5 is not all that good. Plus, like I said, a higher MCAT score is yet to be achieved. Now then, OP can spend at least a year and a half to find out if he can get a higher score and get accepted into a US school (or not), or he can be done with basic sciences and starting on his clinical rotations at AUC.

Having said that, if it was me, I would be calling up US schools and asking the admissions people about what they consider a good GPA and MCAT scores, instead of some random people on the Internet.
