Are you sure note service is not selling anything anymore? Just because of this new bookstore thing? It doesn't make sense because we weren't clearly notified that note service won't be selling anything anymore.

this has surprisingly never been brought up before (i checked).
All curency used on SXM is Dollar. They use guilders (NAF) but for the most part, everything is done in dollars.

The only time you'll actually deal with them is when the people at the gas station try to rip you off during conversion of gas prices.

Question Crime?

Soe and anyone else who is or has been on the island:

How is the crime down there? I've heard that theft is the most common crime. How much did you prepare before you came to the island? What precautions are necessary, besides not leaving a wad of cash outside your front door?

Thievary is fairly common, cars/bikes being stolen are also routine. However, that is not to say it's rampant. The vast majority of AUC will go through their time on the island with no problems.

Precautions? The same you would use in the middle of a large US city. Always keep your doors locked. Don't leave your windows open if you don't have to (no matter what floor you live on). Keep your valuables out of plain sight. Exercise COMMON SENSE. Don't walk down dark alleys. Don't be confrontational. Go in groups. Be aware of your surroundings. Don't take candy from strangers.

Candy from strangers is always better though, not to mention free. This saddens me.
