Well, here we go again....

Looks like we are starting over.

Maybe we can get some more traffic here. I like the format of this forum, but maybe some of you like one or more of the other ones better?

Hmmm, now let's see what I can come up with to stimulate some conversation in here.....

Re: Well, here we go again....

that www.aucstudents.cjb.net is total garbage. i also get porn pop-ups when i go to that site. what a useless site. the way to get more traffic in here it to totally get rid of network 54 and link it to here -----> it's about time this is done.

Re: Well, here we go again....

Blind Mice forum has been very well moderated. I think that is an excellent model on which we can base the "ideal" in terms of forum content. The nice thing about valuemd.com is that it brings all of the schools together. We need to start viewing ourselves as the rest of the medical community views us. Not as people from individual schools...we are lumped into the category fo IMG's. We all have more or less the same obstacles, and we can all help each other out. We shouldn't limit the discussions to just one school. G

I agree with Dr. Durst. If everyone think of foreign medical schools as one group there would be much less of those immature posts about Ross vs. AUC.

By the way it's very refreshing to see an evolution to the AUC forum! This is a much better site and I hope it'll be more popular very soon!

USIMG Organization?

I am not sure just how much more power we could wield in the mainstream medical community, but I'm sure it would help get our point across if we could work from a united base. There are at least 6,000 (probably more like 8,000) total grads from SGU, AUC and Ross practicing medicine in the US. I understand there are over 8,000 grads from UAG alone in the US. I've seen a number of these older grads on faculty at US schools.

We may come from different schools, but our needs are pretty much the same (i.e. a fair shake from the system).

Just my thoughts :P

Best of Luck to Us All!

Re: USIMG Organization?

RG the problem is that after graduation, we assimilate so well into mainstream medicine, there is no need to unite ( or no large push to do so )

no great unwashed opressed army of Caribbean grad's singing "power to the people"

rather than some lobbying force, what does happen is a lot of more informal networking where grads on faculty are receptive to matching Caribbean students and also hiring alumni as faculty.

It's a slow process, but like a tumor with a slow doubling time, eventually we grow nice and big!

I learned of this forum from the Deans who did NOT recommend it. The deans also did NOT recommend texts that somehow got me more than one honor on exams. Somehow what NOT to do seems the best to do .

i can't believe a dean would be so unwise as to actively actively recommend not using a site. perhaps that's why they're the dean of an offshore school.

They were saying that we should take problems through SGA and to them rather than go to "those silly sites like valuemd"; At that point, I learned of valuemd.
