Last Min Questions?

Hey Guys,
I just had a couple more questons. I heard that during your 3rd and 4th yeard it is kinda hard to get your electives that you want. I was wndering how hard would it be to get a orthopedic surgery rotation elective during your 4th yeard at AUC? Furthermore, how hard is it to get an elective that is known as "most competitive" residencis during your fourth year electives.

Also,
I was wondering about the living situations there? I heard that all incoming students do not het a place in the dorms, so where do the rest stay? How can you find roommates if you live in the apts? and how far are they away from AUC and the dorms?

And lastly,
I heard there are quit a lot of brothels there? Personally, i think that is one of the most sickest things ever? I just wanted to make sure that there are not any near the school because the last thing i want to do is go out fo ranight to relax and go to a club and have these girls from there come here and try to ask for money for sex..so gross...for relioious reasons i just needed to know...thanks

I'll start with the last question first. If you don't bother the brothels, they won't bother you. In short, don't look for them or worry about them.

dorms and roommates? Well, you can get a dorm first semester but then you'll most likely have to live off campus. You can live further away from school for cheaper or you can live pretty close to the school and be charged an arm and a leg. I personally believe that walking distance of the school and paying $400-$500/month more for that "convience" isn't worth it.

Lastly, you can do whatever elective you want. It's your responsibility to set up electives, not the schools. AUC only sets up cores, you have to do the rest. So, yes, you can do an ortho elective wherever you want but you'll have to do the work to arrange it.

The school used to be in a brothel.

Wherever they are, does it make a difference?? Or will your God send you to Hell?

what will you do as a physician when you treat others

It seems to me you may have to deal with this issue at one time or another as a physician. Will you simply tell your patient that you are gross and sicken me and send them walking?, or worse treat them like lesser human beings and give less than the standard of care.

You will be surprised at the different types of people you will encounter.

As a physician you will need to mature and become less judgemental than your initial message shows you to be.

Guys, careful, this has the potential to degenerate quickly to flaming. The user was expressing that they didn't want to be solicitated for sex for money, that's it. And to answer the question, no, you won't.

I guess that means he'll be staying in his apt and at school at all times. I hope he'll find someone to deliver his groceries, pay his GEBE, etc. No going out to dinner, or the movies or anything.

PaulN has a good point and it remains valid.

It seemed like the OP merely didn't want to be constantly solicitated (somehow St. Maarten's gotten a bad rap on that account), no need to pass judgement on the person's character or how they'll treat their patients in the future. Besides which, arguments like these never come out good so I'm asking you guys to watch it. Haven't had to give warnings to any of you AUC'ers yet, and I don't want to.. those Rossies now..

SOE, you are fibbing. i got warnings from you before.

by the way, i know quite a few AUC'ers who have gone or go to brothels.

so, you may want to avoid them because they are icky, may offend you, are not up to proper moral standards, etc.......

while you're at it, the beaches are topless, so be careful, they may offend you also....

oh yes, be careful about going to the clubs, there are a lot of drug dealers hanging around there, they may offend also....
