Well, it's high season, and I don't think you're going to do much better than that anywhere. You could try Travel Inn in Simpson Bay (like a Days Inn in the States, plain, but liveable), they will offer a student rate of $69 or $79 a night, as well as Caravansarai, but I don't think any of them will honor it during high season (until April or so).

My wife and I have a SMALL studio apartment right behind ours that we rent out for $25 a night, but it won't be more than a place to lay your head and shower, with a microwave, dorm fridge, and coffee maker. One double bed, so I guess it depends on how close you and your friend are, eh? It's an idea as a last resort, though. It isn't anything fancy, and it's empty all the time, we keep it for visiting family, etc. But occasionally we rent it out like that to prospectives.

Good luck!

Welcome

Before you make reservations to stay anywhere, be sure to contact MEIO. It isn't an official program yet, but they do sometimes arrange for you to stay somewhere free. If you let them know you are coming, they will notify the housing office (housing@aucmed.edu) and the registrar's office (registrar@aucmed.edu) to let them know you are coming, get you a place to stay, give you a tour, etc. You might want to send a quick email yourself to both offices to just give them a personal heads up on your visit. They both have helpful people that will take care of you.

Have you arranged for a ride from the airport? Please let me know if you need anything. The Spouse Club can arrange to have someone pick you up and help you get into a rental car...we can show you the island and answer questions if the students are too busy. Just send me an email... aucspouse@hotmail.com

Look forward to meeting you, Trisha
