Please remain on topic, this is to discuss people's chances, not the significance of english and the MCAT

OK, you can turn it back on me if you want. But, it's not about being perfect...it's about being qualified for medical school. The USMLE people seem to think that there are unacceptable scores for potential physicians, regardless of any excuse you might be able to come up with, and there should probably be one for the MCAT too. If you could fail the MCAT, I'm pretty sure a 17 would be failing!

Back on topic - your chances with a 17 MCAT are slim. You can try if you want, and AUC has taken some very low scores in the past, but you should probably be prepared to figure out a better way to study and re-take the MCAT.

Gosh this is probably the wrong thread to ask this but:

slevit1, did you get in this first time you applied 'cus I know you applied with only 90 credits? (I'm not trying to beat the stuffing out of you - just curious about who gets in @ 90 credits for curiosity's sake )

Edit:
Actually, I just looked @ your screen-avatar & realized that you either reconsidered applying or didn't get in the first time... never mind the question then

Don't know where you got that edit information from...my avatar is an apple! I suppose it is a very revealing apple. In any case, I was accepted to AUC the first time I applied with 90 credits, but they gave me a conditional acceptance that said I needed to have a bachelors. So, I deferred my acceptance for a year to get the degree. I don't know of anyone who gets in without a degree. Although it is technically possible, I don't think they do it anymore and the admissions committee are very against the idea.

hehe... yea - I asked the apple (& looked @ your signature)

you applied in 2005 & this is your 2nd semester (implying you started in Aug 2007).

I think it's still on their website that you can apply w/o a ** degree ... I don't know about the conditional acceptance part as of now

I did apply in 2005, and was accepted. They often give you a conditional acceptance if you have not completed all of the pre-reqs or haven't gotten a degree. It just means that you're accepted, assuming you meet the requirements before you start. You can technically apply without a B.S. degree, but they strongly discourage it and chances are that you'll either get a conditional acceptance or be denied. I don't know of anyone at AUC that does not have a bachelors. If you did well enough to be considered here without a degree, you probably should have been able to wait an extra year and go to a US school, which would have been the much better idea.

above average MCAT probably comes close to evening out the below average GPA. pretty decent shot if i had to speculate. depends probably on what term you're applying for. since its rolling admissions the quicker you get things in the better your chances. good luck.
