2.3 GPA
2.5 Science
35M MCAT
Research + 2 publications pending
Good LORs
Volunteering, shadowing, the whole-song-and-dance routine

I wasn't able to justify my grades well enough to Ross - they rejected me after the interview. How about a shot @ AUC?

apply and see. your mcat is very good, but your gpa is kinda low. i suggest you apply and see. ross and auc are at about the same level. you have a shot at auc.

I think you have a good shot (I had similar stats), but you'll definitely need to be able to justify your grades to the interviewer.

How did that happen? You'd have a shot, but I'd put it at slim if Ross has already rejected you. I hate to be mean, but a 2.3 is probably lower than any med student should have. They've gotta draw the line somewhere. But, maybe you'll get lucky and they'll draw the line below you.

but a 35 MCAT is higher than most.....sounds like a really intelligent guy who slacks off. of course that wont work in med school either, but med school is one standardized test after another.

I think a lot of us would love to have that MCAT score (anyone who says otherwise is just suffering from p**** envy).

While your GPA is not very good, as long as your have good LOR's and a good story as to why your GPA is so low.... I think you have a shot at AUC.

If you get rejected, just take another year of classes, raise your score, and go to AUC next year. It will be a lot easier for you to raise your GPA from a 2.3 to a 3.5 than it would be for some of us (who have GREAT GPA's) to raise our MCAT scores up to your level....

Just my two cents worth....

yes.....to raise a GPA just takes time and some work. for a lot of people, no amount of work could give them a 35

nshams = female

Thanks for the replies, everybody. In terms of school/how nice classes are or whatever, I don't really care AT ALL - I could happily go to St. James if I knew that I'd be an MD @ the end - but being licensed in all 50 states is pretty appealing.

Can anyone who had REALLY low GPA give some example of how they justified it to the adcoms?

Here's a link to something I posted in the Main ValueMD Board that I discovered one night on Google:

http://www.valuemd.com/main-foreign-...ead-first.html

It is definitely something everyone should read before jumping into the world of Caribbean medical schools....
