retake that mcat, get a good score and go to a US school! 19 is very poor, but you might have a shot with your gpa......

I'm in for the Jan 08 class. My undergrad gpa was a 2.9cum, 3.1 science. MCAT was a 27Q. so so stats, BOMB *** personal statement, and it did me a lot of good.

I did a post bacc at uci and my post bacc gpa is a 4.0. Also, during my last year in college, I made up all the classes I messed up in earlier and did really well in all of them. I was able to get strong letters of rec from those professors and from post bacc and research professors. Those help a ton as well.

I wouldn't have applied to med school if I hadn't changed my ways in college. My first two and a half years in college were a huge waste. After that, I picked it up big time and did really well but gpa can only go up so much after the major damage is done.

If you've already changed or are ready to change, I'd highly recommend taking some post bacc classes and showing the admissions committee who you are as a student now if you're gpa is really low. if it's borderline, take the mcat and apply. You never know.
I don't think it was your personal statement that got you in, your stats are definitely good enough on their own. Also, good letters and your post bacc program would probably matter a whole lot more. A bad statement would hurt your chances, but a good one isn't going to make a bad application much better. Really, I doubt your p.s. had anything to do with your acceptance at all, aside from not hurting you, if it really was as bomb-whatever as you say.

probably slim. You can always just spend the money and find out for sure, but a 19 is very bad and probably won't (shouldn't) get you in anywhere.

Greetings
I am currently a graduate student in Biomedical Engineering with a GPA of 3.70. I took the MCAT twice and both time my scores were 13. I shadow an excellent Doctor and I am keeping up with my volunteer work both in medical and non-medical settings. I want to know what are my chances of getting into AUC?

your gpa is quite good but your low mcat will not help you out. a low score of 13 is a red flag to the admissions officer. i suggest you study harder, take a prep class, and retake the mcat. right now, i don't think you have a chance b/c of your 13. sorry to be blunt.

With an MCAT of 13, your chances of admission are about 0.5%. It may have been done sometime, somewhere, but I've never heard of anyone with a 13 getting into any medical school. Maybe CMU....

13???? how did you prepare for the mcat? i would serious evaluate your study strategy and give it another go, because i highly doubt that score will get you in anywhere. good luck to you

I know i would have good LORs if i asked for them and i have about six months of research experience.....would that boost my chances, I was also looking at Ross but from what I read a lot of people prefer AUC to Ross, and SGU is out of the question for me due to the cost...any advice?

Hey guys,

I didn't want to make a new thread about this so i figured i'd post in here.

Stats:
UCSD
Biochemistry Major
Economic Minor
2.7 overall GPA
2.6 Science GPA

Extracurricular:
Pfizer 2.5 years
Scripp's Institute of Oceanography 1 year
San Diego Center of Spinal Disorders 1 year
- Shadowed many surgeries
- Published Spinal Journal

Mcat:
28

Anways, i failed a class (neuro), and took it again hoping to do better but ended up getting a D. That's my only grade lower than a C though, is that going to hurt me alot overall? Or will the extracurriculars and mcats help me out? I just graduated, and would rather not spend the money and time to go back and the class over for a third time. I'd rather use that time to get a 31+ on my mcat.

Thanks
