What are my chances

Hello,

If I have a bachelor in psych from a private University (Hillsdale College), and am doing pre-med courses at a community college with an MCAT of 20 and a cum GPA at 3.1 and science GPA at 3.2, what are my chances at AUC? Also, I work 5 days a week, I have volunteer work at two hosipitals, nanotechnology research at University of Michigan, and a few experiences job shadowing specialists.

you can always apply and see what happens....but your mcat might hold you back....any chance to retake and improve will help you big time because everything else looks decent

I honestly think you should apply but acceptance is really questionable. Those score would probably give you a chance normally but the fact your premed coursework is done at a community college in addition to having probably the low end of the cutoff scores suggests you will get denied or waitlisted to a semester with less applicants. Hopsital work and volunteer work are nice but everyone has that so its not like anything that stands out that much. I would recommend taking more science classes at a university and scoring well in a few of them to prove you can complete heavy science course work in a more competitive setting than a commnity college. Good luck I am sorry if this is not what you wanna hear but I am trying to help.

not sure if i agree with your assessment of CC coursework.....all A's from a CC look better than B's and C's from a university. i do think the mcat will be limiting though

A member of the admission committe once said that he would hesitate to accept any applicant that did not have at least a 20 MCAT score regaurdless of other factors. He is no longer on the admissions committee, but if this attitude is held by others you may just sneak by. Of course, improving the MCAT could not hurt given the rise of the caliber of applicant AUC has enjoyed as of late.

thanks everyone. honestly, i think another mcat is on store (unfortunately) but when i took it the first time, I didn't have any of the science backround period, it was just for the experience. Thanks for all the input though.

re-take the MCAT or chances are slim.
