A science class is not just a science class. They don't look as good from community colleges and they'll probably wonder why you had to re-take everything at a community college instead of just re-taking it where you are. You've really just gotta do well on the MCAT.

MCAT is where it is at. I would use the weaker years in the beginning for the personal essay explaining how you learned to learn and improved grades over time (or whatever occurred that enabled you to improve your grades). This shows that although one is not perfect, they can improve and succeed. There are lots of fellow classmates who partied too hard in undergrad that are quite successful at AUC.

Thats what i used to think as well. In the US your correct. But in the Caribbean a science class is a science class, this is coming straight from a admission counselor, i am not making it up.

Well that's too bad then, it ought to matter.

I was not an admissions conselor, but i was on the ADCOM as a student rep. and a science class is not just a science class, trust me, a human physio is alot different than an intro bio for non-science majors ect. that is an extream example but you get the picture.

we looked over transcrips and even looked at the quility of the school (notre dame and boston college vs. LSU-E or UTEP)

Hey guys. I'm thinking about applying to AUC for August 2007, if not then for January class. I also heard about the other school I was interested in having ALOT (I mean ALOT!) of problems with the clinicals, so I am excited to know that AUC doesn't seem to have that kind of problem........not yet anyway........ My stats: GPA 3.3, MCAT (5 scores! Yeah, I took it 5 times! ) 23-26. Do you guys think I"ll be able to get in? If so, will I need an interview, or do you think it'll be automatic acceptance (or not)...........let me know what you guys think. Thnx for your input!

Seems like your stats are slightly above the averages listed on AUC's website, and your numbers seem pretty balanced (no discrepancy between GPA and MCAT), so I'm guessing you'll be accepted without an interview (although they might be curious about taking the MCAT 5 times...)

Thnx numb! The 5 scores............yeah, I kinda see a question coming with that..........my only 'defense' is that I wanted to try and improve drastically, though that never really panned out obviously.......... Anyways, I'll definately apply to AUC........hopefully I'll get in.

I would place a bet on acceptance at AUC given these stats. Definitely apply.
