True, if English is your second language, it could account for the low VR score.

I need help. I am 39 yrs old and have recently graduated with a degree in Biology. My GPA, sad to say, is 2.33. I have taken the MCAT and plan to retake it. I took it before Physics II, Organic II, Cell and Genetics. I received a 20. I don't know the letter. Do I have a chance at getting into AUC? I really want to be a doctor. My GPA is low mostly due to my first years attending college just out of highschool.

I forgot to mention that I have years of volunteer experience in the community, with a hospice, and shadowing an Ob-Gyn.

The GPA, sorry to say, is far below the average for accepted AUC students, and your MCAT as it stands right now is likewise low. It may work in your favor if the last few years your grades were near to straight A's, especially in the sciences.

Not to be mean, but isn't that how most people attend college?

Your GPA is definitely low. I think you should take more classes to raise it, although I'm not sure how many you will have to take in order to bring it closer to a 3.0. The MCAT score is low, but I feel you can definitely improve it after taking Physics II and Organic II. But you GPA will definitely hinder you, so I would work on it.

That GPA may be beyond redemption as far as admission to AUC. It would take forever to raise it to something that would be considered admittable, not to mention that your MCAT score would likely have to be above the average since no matter what GPA will be below average.

I think before the admissions committee starts to look at things like clinical experience, you have to first convince them that you have a chance to pass all the cirriculum and the USMLE.

Your MCAT score is great, but the low GPA could hurt you. What happened on the writing section? Still I would think that you have a decent chance because of your MCAT score.

I think you're in. Ask me how I know.
