Just retake the MCAT - it's not impossible to get a 30 & being Canadian myself, I know what a pain admissions to Canadian MD is - but with a 3.8, you owe it to yourself to avoid a lot of the issues by just bunkering down for a couple of weeks & pulling that 30.

I was wondering if any of you guys had any tips on doing well on the verbal portion of the mcat. Having a tough time and havent scored above an 8 in verbal on the practice tests. Didnt want to make a new post, but it seems people add to this post all the time. Thanks.

And..I just took my MCATs today for the first time..im guessing i will probably score around 25. Probably gona take it again soon, what should I aim for in order to have a good chance at AUC? |

I think the best prep for increasing your verbal score is to get as much practice with reading comprehension as possible. The book has passages of varying difficulty and although I didn't make it through the whole book, I think it was of high enough difficulty to hone your reading skills (I ended up with a 12V). Remember speed is also a crucial factor in the verbal section and you will always get faster with more passages. I also did not go for the typical suggestions of marking up passages and using a lot of notation because I thought that slows you down. Read well and work efficiently. I also enjoyed the audio osmosis series that was fun to listen to and easy to make your own notes from tapes...although my girlfriend almost killed me for wanting to go to bed every night listening to jordan and jon
