Admission Stats

I just spoke with an AUC admissions representative, and she claimed that the average stats for accepted students are:

Overall GPA = 3.4
Science GPA = 3.2
MCAT = 24

I thought these stats were a little high? Have the standards really gone up this much, or was she maybe just trying to sell the school a little? If the numbers are true I guess I have the same chance of getting into AUC as I do a DO school. go figure....

I'd guess they're probably about right. As US schools get harder to get into, the caribbean schools will too. Also, the higher the stats get, the more respected the caribbean schools will probably be. Those stats should not be unattainable for anyone who wants to go to med school anyway.

those sound right, they said the classes average stats are increasing with each semester, especially in the last 2 years...i wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't a little higher than that, at least mcat wise

These are the figures AUC officially posts to their website. I think they may have changed (I won't mention which direction) lately. American University of the Caribbean
If we are "Yale" of the Caribbean, who is "community college" of the Caribbean?

Actually, the way I have heard it was that "Yale was the AUC of the U.S."

LOL, I'm glad I turned down my unconditional acceptance/full ride scholarship to Yale then. I just love St. Maarten that much. Besides, what other school can boast about having a "larger-than-life" bronze statue of the founder PRE-MORTEM!!

actually, now that I think of it, it's probably just made of tarnished gold...

yea i always thought you guys were kidding about the "gold" and stuff.....but then i looked at some pics of AUC, and saw that circular type room with all sorts of weird/crazy gold decorations with a portrait of the founder...

is the whole campus like this-or just that one room? I cant decide if i thought it was funny or frightening, or both.....

When I visited, the entrance area was a little overwhelming. Tacky almost to the point of being a joke. I though it was a combination of funny, sad, and frightening. I don't know if anyone's met the founder, but he sure seems to like himself plenty. Fortuntately, the rest of the school didn't look like that. The lecture halls and library looked typical.
