Question regarding Admission

Hello, this might seem like a retarded question but what exactly is a pre-medical advising commitee?

They say you need to get one LOR from them but I've never even heard of them in my school?

Can I get that LOR from anybody or does it need to come from that comittee...

Not every school has one. I believe you can use 2 LOR from others in lieu of this. I think they prefer from science profs, but I think others can be used.

I never received a lor from them. Unless things have changed, then you probably dont need one. For serious stuff like this, i suggest calling the school and asking them.

College that has a pre-medical program has a committee that reviews their students to see if they are quality for medical school.
My school has one where I submitted a file that includes my autobiography, 3 LORs, records of my extra-curriculum/researches/publications...
Most of my classmates who got into U.S med schools have had an interview in front of the committee...Thus they all have THE COMMITTEE RECOMENDATION... (and probably worth as gold)

Anyway, I've forgone this option, which was stupid, but they did sent out my file with a letter stated that they did not review me and such...
Hope that answers your question and good luck.

Some schools have pre medical commitees which write composite letters, some don't. As almost every US medical school now requires a composite letter, most colleges have them. It makes things much easier on the people writing the letters of recommendation, the prospective student, and the medical schools.

Your best bet though if you don't have one at your school is just to call MEAS and talk to an advisor. There's always a bunch of them there during regular business hours. I think AUC wanted 3 letters when I applied, but I'm not positive.

You just need 2 LORs, preferably from science profs. I'm also Canadian and had never heard of such a thing either.

What avocado said, if you ain't got one, approach two or more professors that think will give you a good or glowing recommendation and ask 'em to write one for you. These letters must be sent by the professors or the school and NOT by you otherwise they will not be vaild. And I think some sort of statement saying you never saw what the letter contained.
