    Q about visa to UK

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone knows about how to go about getting visa to UK for clinical rotations (9-12 months). And I'm not looking for a simple go to the consulate website and find out (www.britainusa.com) or call them (which by the way is $2.50/min if you want to speak to a live person about visa issues. what a rip, the UK must be going really broke).

I'm looking for what you need to apply, especially how much visa+fees will be for my wife and I.

    any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Not sure if you went to the most recent clinicals Q&A (or if being 4th semester you were even told about this) but some UK-bound students have been having difficulties getting the student visa and are stranded in NY or somesuch... The clinicals office is telling people to hold off on committing to UK for all cores until this is straightened out. If you are interested in a rotation or two over there (and I paraphrase) "your 6 month tourist visa should be enough."

if that is what you were told, the guys in florida need to get their act together to give us proper information (we can all wish, cant we?)

anyways, I have been in correspondence with Miami today, and I was told that at the end of this month they will be coming down to SXM to discuss a bunch of issues, including doing rotations in UK.

    "
The clinical department is going to be in the island for orientation at the end of the month.
You will be advised of the date and time that we will be speaking to students in your semester.
At that time we should have information on Visa issues and will be able to help you in answering some of your questions.
    Thanks

    Talking

What kinds of people are having troubles obtaining visas? Are these natural US born students or students from other countries on various visas residing inside or outside of the US?

In light of the current problems, this would be an area to explore.

Me and the family got our visas via britainusa.com it was fast and easy. If I remember it was 160$ per visa and 15$ for mailing fees. You send your passport and other information they ask for when you fill out the online application and your set (other information you get from MEAS). Takes about 5 working days.
