They do, I am not sure how "honorable" they are, but they are currently selling T-shirts for their fundraiser.

Supposedly registrar did the ranking yesterday. We can all go and see where we are on the AUC food chain. We can see who is going to be voted most honorable by a for profit medical school. Good luck competing.

Alpha Omega Phi is the school's Honor & Service Society. Requirements for entry might have changed since I've been there, but to be elligible the following needed to be met:

    1. Completion of three semesters of Basic Sciences on a full-time basis.
    2. Top 25% of the 4th semester class in accordance with certain guidelines.
    3. No failed classes.
    4. Application fee of $20.

For last semester's group (not sure if it's different now), you had to be in the top 25% at the beginning of 5th semester. It doesn't sound like much of a difference, but when class size shrinks between semesters, that leaves fewer people in the top 1/4. Also, I don't think there was a no failed classes policy anymore. The application fee, of course, remained.

So let me understand...you can flunk one (or more) classes and still somehow manage to make it into AOP?

Ahh, guidelines and rules and more **. I dont know if this is honor society or whatever they call it at AUC, but I think it means you are in the top of your class.
However, top of your class at AUC means you are really good at decelerating. Just tutor as much as possible and take the league minimum and you are IN!!

Perhaps that's the way it is now, but certainly not true of past society inductees.

If this is the case, it's unfortunate because it detracts from the value of such an accomplishment for those who legitimately deserved it and diminishes the achievements of prior AOP members.

While AOP may not mean much to residency program directors in comparison to AOA (the honor society for AMG's), inducting individuals who cannot maintain a certain standard of academic excellence into Alpha Omega Phi can only diminish its legitimacy in the long run.
