    no licensing for foreign grads?

A statement was made at a school of osteopathic medicine that foreign graduated physicians that started their medical program after 2007 will be required to attend a U.S. Medical school for licensure in the U.S. Has any one heard this or have any information about this?

I am about to start the med program at AUC this january 2007. Information about this would be nice.

last i checked states were in charge of licensing.....you cant even get all 50 to agree on licensing requirements so i doubt highly by 2007 they will all unanimously rule out FMGs.....i mean there would be no residents for NYC!

Any policy that is made for the U.S.A. takes many years to put into practice. So even if this is true it would take many years before everyone would adapt to the law. It seems kinda difficult to get all 50 states to agree on any subject, so this would be a first.

Isn't that what makes things interesting? The rumors at AUC would be boring without everyone's personal interpretation. Maybe this is the reason for the dean's "town hall meeting" next week. That would be a much more exciting topic than discussing the 15+ additional speed bumps the school will be installing for our "safety".
