Thread: When to move out of the dorms

So after reading old posts, it seems I may regret living in the dorms since the school expects me to get out by Jan. I was planning on leaving right after exams in Dec to travel and come back the day before class in Jan, but if I am forced to leave the dorms I may have to forget those plans. Has anyone moved out of the dorms, say, in November before you start studying for finals? I know this is wishful thinking but if you leave the dorms in Oct or Nov do you get a refund on housing rent? Part of me wants to just get my own place right now but I have always been more comfortable living in a dorm for the first few months to be close to school and get familiar with faces. I called the housing office and left a message I bet they are busy getting rooms assigned and stuff. Any help is appreciated. See everyone real soon...

You can only get refunds after a certain time I think, I'm not exactly sure.

But yes, as long as you secure an apartment that you can move into, you can start moving your stuff in and living there before finals. The only problem is most apartments near by have students still living in them and won't be moving out until probably after the semester ends.
