Hello All

I have a few remaining questions before I begin my first term.

1) Internet Hookup Equipment
Is the Dorm Network compatible with Standard Wireless Equipment that is used for cable and DSL in the U.S.? Did you buy or bring this stuff down with you.

2) 4-Star Delivery - Do they deliver to the Dorms or will I have to pick up the boxes?

3) Ice Tray/Ice Maker - Do the fridges have Ice Makers?

4) Exercise Room/Gym - Has anyone heard about the status of the equipment ordered for the gym…or is this still perpetuating?

5) Basic School Supplies - Is it easy to get notebooks, pens, highlighters etc. at Note Service or is there a place like Staples in St. Maarten where you can get anything imaginable from printer ink to laser pointers?

you lost me after compatitble.....my equipment was standard and it worked for stealing a signal from my friends

Geez. Don't you know the internet is totally different in different countries. Get off your US superiority complex. Damn. You'll need a St. Maarten router only (US routers don't work here, though I've heard one's from the UK sometimes will work, Canada's work about 1 in 5)

And make sure to bring a couple backup mice. When the power goes out, its good to have a backup generator of your own.

All are 802.11g (some new ones are 802.1n and some older ones are A, other are A/G).
Wireless 802.11g is now the most common. It runs at a max of 54Mbps and is what all laptops will run on here in the states and the world for picking up a wireless signal.
As long as you have a wireless signal or a router the 802.11g device will pickup that signal.

icemaker -
1)fill plastic bag with water
2)bring to class
3) instant ice in 2 minutes
4) smack bag with Devlin or Robbins (your choice)
5) voila - ice cubes

internet - there isn't any on st maarten. all these posts are coming from the states no one is really on the island!

Gym - jog to class from simpson bay with backpack! or just benchpress the cadavers

delivery- you think something would actually make it to the island and you find it while you are here? HAHAHAHAHA

Signal amplifiers work great at stealing neighbors internet. Also worked well in Beacon Hill to steal from the Maho Beach Resort (great signal that runs fast).
