Unhappy AUC - August 2006 Questions

I realize that these questions are asked all the time, and I know they can get annoying to many. I'm just looking to see if anyone else got in with similar circumstances.

I will be getting my B.S. in psychology and in Biology. I have a 3.5 overall gpa and a 3.5 science gpa.

I haven't taken the MCAT yet, but on practice exams I tend to get around a 21-24.

So my question is of course, what are my chances of getting in to AUC?
My biggest concern is that my MCAT scores will be getting in a little late, but my application will be in my around March 10th.

I have volunteered, joined clubs, etc. also.

Again, I apologize for posting yet another annoying "what are my chances" but just trying to get some sort of idea of my chances.

Without your MCAT, it is difficult to say. If you assume that you score will be where your practice score is, you would probably get in. Your GPA beats mine by almost a full point, but your projected MCAT is much lower than mine was, for reference. If you want any better idea, you should ask an advisor.

With that GPA, I would seriously consider studying hard for the MCAT to get a 30 or so. You would have a good chance of getting into a U.S. school. You will have to learn to study hard down here for classes and especially the USMLE anyways. Why not really push it for the MCAT and see if you can avoid the caribbean all together.

I'd have to postpone going to school for a year, and I figured if I just went the Caribbean route I'd only have 8 months left or so.

Well, getting into a state school is hard anywhere.. but a 3.5 cumulative and science GPA, with a good MCAT will get you some interviews at some of the private schools, I'm sure.

a) He never said he was from florida.
b) Let me guess, that's what happened to you, and you've gotta let everyone know about it? (forever)

Not to be a jerk or anything, but it's pretty lame you posted one of these threads considering there's a stickied thread asking not to do this. It's even worse considering you don't even have an MCAT score yet, so any valid opinions basically go out the window. There's a reason they ask not to do what you did...

those are pretty good stats for the caribbean med schools. you should aim for a higher score on the MCAT to improve your chances at a North American med school. Good Luck
