need info

hey picard

thanks for responding.
its not really that i need to get into med school mentality, its that i'm a transfer student from st. christopher's college of medicine and i need to finish my medical school. the place that is accepting me is AUA so that is why I don't have time to take MCAT or anything like that. There are also accepting my courses becuz I left St. Chris a semester before the trouble started so my courses are approved. So basically that is why I needed the low down information on AUA..

htowndoc,

In that case go for it. You are making a step up by going to AUA from St Chris.

tough choice dude. all this ** you are going through will make you appreciate it all the more when you make it to the end. good luck, i think aua is making as good progress as can be expected and if i had to gamble on a new school i think the staff they have is probably the best qualified (from ross, helped saba) from the other 20+ new schools to take a chance on. i have doubts about their twinning program and the shady or creative, depending on how you look at it, way they tried to get federal loans and hopefully that is behind them.

good luck

clinical and step 1

I'm considering AUA, I heard that they accept everybody. I guess that is true cuz I got in, and I will be starting in Sept 06. I called AUA about the USMLE passing rate, they said 90%!!!does this seems right to you? The last time was 85?!! I mean, I dont care what the pass rate is, all I want is a shot at the board BUT if the number is correct then AUA is the place to be. And the clinincals, I get diffrent story witht that too. New York is approved according to AUA. BUT I guess you'll never know. ANy student care to comment. thx

all the schools fudge the pass rates. the most likely scenario is that is the best number they could get with whatever data they took into consideration like pass rate of everyone that took the exam during May with may having 10 people take it and 9 pass, or taking the data only of those who voluntarily reported it.

don;t trust any data from any school. look for hard evidence of success like the number of residency placements vs how many are in each class. you should probably ask them steph's questions:

-what is the first time pass rate for all students at aua who have taken the test from day 1
-how many people that start the program finish on time

and you can look for her other questions theya re quite good

Passing the USMLE

HELLO Dakota,
Dakota how many students took the USMLE in your class? NOW you say AUA have a pass rate?

Congratulations Dakota! I passed too! I was afraid that I was the only one because no one else has posted anything. Good luck with your rotations. I guess AUA now officially has a pass rate. [/quote]
