Learn as much as you can on the island. Once in Miami take advantage of the review, even though many will tell you it sucks, as well as Dr. LeBlanc. Both will prove invaluable when you sit down to take the test. While in Miami I would recommend that you use the textbooks you used on island to solidify what you have learned. By the time the semester if over and you are ready to take some time and prepare on your own you will be ready to use the review books. The ones I would recommend are BRS Path, BRS Physio, BRS Biochemistry, High Yield Micro, High Yield Immuno, High Yield Molecular Cell Biology, and First Aid. Hope this helps.

What Dakota said is true. But also, take advantage of every opportunity you have to learn something, especially in 5th semester. Things will stick with you that you never thought you would remember. If you see it and talk about it, you'll know it later. The physicians you are with are some of the best learning resources you could ever ask for. But more importantly are the patients you see. They will teach you what you can never learn from a book. Don't be afraid of them. If you want to do a physical exam but you're afraid you'll do something wrong, do it anyway; 99% of the patients will never even know. In fact, most of the time you will have patients asking you questions because they think you know everything. Don't be afraid to say that you don't know something, but then go read about it. Fifth semester is when everything comes together. You begin to integrate all of your basic science knowledge and apply it in the clinical setting. Things make a lot more sense once you can apply them. You pay a lot to get through med school - make it worth your time and money! And in 2 years when you get to the point I'm at, and you finally realize that all of this is true, you can tell someone else the exact same thing.

wait, am i reading this right?

75's and 85's? do you mean 175/185?

and even then...i thought 250 was the MOST solid it gets.

and don't FMG's need relatively higher scores to be more competative?

well, i don't want to rain on your parade, but i'm just trying to shed more light as to the reality of obtaining a foreign medical school education

I think hosdurga was referring to the two digit scores.

AUA has a 87% Step I pass rate as of now.

The sample size is obviously small (< 40), but it still is an accomplishment.

Sree,

Where is this 87% number coming from? Is it from students transferring into 6th semester or from students who did basic sciences in Antigua?
