Geez people...answer the question!
I know there are a number of students who have transfered to AUA from Ross. I must say the only ones that I personally know did so because they failed at Ross. I'm not about to bash that. What my concern is.....those of us who are considering transfering there for other reasons, lower tuition, better island, could really use the "truth" on whether that's a wise decision. For those that transfered that failed....they don't have much of a choice...they must be willing to take a risk because the risk they took at Ross cost them. Having a Caribbean transfer due to failing will not look good regardless of anything else...but these people know what they want and that's fine. But someone who is thinking of transfering there...is the school approved or not? How does the loan situation work? Can we use the loans we already have for Ross and turn them over? I don't see why everyone is bashing one another. Just need some good advice. Ross is expensive. If a student can save some money and not lose a chance at a dream....go for it. But this decision is very difficult to make with so much conflicting information. No disrespect meant here, but hearing from people who failed at Ross doesn't really ensure anything. Let's hear from people who are there because the future looks bright..not "questionable". Thank you.

Truth
The truth of the matter is that USHA is not even worth considering. The school was selling its building as we speak because they are slowly imploding. With regards to the transfers from Ross, that is a different story. The transfers from Ross are mixed. Some of the transfers failed while the others did not like the direction in which Ross was going. Hearing from Ross teachers themselves would tell you the truth if you wanted to know why some people are transferring to AUA. Some of the people who came here, who didnt fail, were referred by Ross teachers to come here. Ever since DeVry paid over 350 million to buy Ross, the school has changed. The people who fail their classes have increased, teacher turnover has increased, and the amount of transfers has increased. One needs to ask themselves why all that would occur due to a company buying the institution. The fact that old Ross teachers are teaching some classes here and appearing for guest lectures shows that this school is making headway. Dr Hannah taught some of the lectures for Embryo here as an example. Yes, AUA has to prove itself and is a new school, but one must not forget that even Ross was a new school at one point. For being only one year old, AUA has made very decent progress. I am not intending to bash Ross as I have much respect as they were the leaders in allowing students from the states to once again practice in the states. If you need any info on AUA, you can PM me.

Crunch crunch!!
Re this bovine excrement from Crunch
AUA is NOT approved by the Antiguan government and AUA students cannot practice medicine on the island....unlike UHSA graduates. How is it that AUA is NOT approved by the Antiguan government and it has a charter from the Antiguan government to operate? Crunch are you just a clown with betzpaenia and anencephalopathy, or are you a whole circus? Do you think that AUA students really want to practice in Antigua? On the other hand, and by the same token tell us truly, after 22 years operation in Antigua, how many USHA graduates are registered to practice in Antigua? How many Antiguans have even attended USHA? Antiguans who want to practice in Antigua tend to go to UWI, even though it is easier and more convenient to go to UHSA. No UHSA graduate CAN be licensed in Antigua! How many Antiguans have even set foot on UHSA grounds? Have you been to the rundown Dow Hill yet? Or are you waiting to go for the week of your graduation, when all of you distance learning UHSA students make your first and only appearance at UHSA? Have you been up to the military style guard hut yet, that is put to keep Antiguans out? Do you know that there is no relationship between the Association of Practioneers in Antigua with UHSA at all? Crunchie, tell me, are the oncampus students still doing those one month crash courses, before they go home for two months and then come back for the next one month crash course? Munch Munch I have a hunch A liar is CRUNCH |

----- Original Message ----- From: Ministry of Education To: XXXXX@XXXXXX.net Sent: Thursday, December 09, 2004 8:39 PM Subject: RE: UHSA ANTIGUA APPROVAL December 09, 2004 Dear Mr. XXXXXX, Thank you for your letter, regarding accreditation of UHSA, School of Medicine. According to our records, graduates of UHSA are eligible to practice medicine in Antigua and Barbuda, since 1983. However, graduates of the new medical school-AUA (American University of Antigua) can not practice medicine in Antigua or Barbuda, due to our foreign policy with that school. As a XXXXX you are eligible to work here pending approval of your work permit application. The cost of a work permit for UHSA graduates MDs is $7500EC, via the ministry of Labour, St. John's Antigua. I hope you find this acceptable, and I wish you best success in your future medical career. Should you wish to practice medicine in Antigua, please do not hesitate to contact me. Crunchie
thanks for admitting that the one month crash courses are still being done.
like Biochem in 1 month Pharmacology in i month etc Crunchie In the Carribbean after you finish each part of your internship you have to be signed up then with the signed form bearing the signatures of men in the Medical Council and only then can you approach the Registry for registration. Next if you come to the Medical council of any island and the Council determines that you have been to a bogus school the Council will not sign the form that you must take to the Registry so that you can be put on he register. AGAIN IT IS THE DOCTORS ON THE MEDICAL COUNCIL WHO DECIDE IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION AND WHETHER YOUR MEDICAL SCHOOL IS ACCEPTABLE. HOW DO I KNOW? WENT THTOUGH THE REGISTRATION PROCESS IN MORE THAN ONE OF THE ISLANDS. You need to listen and learn You need to put brain in gear before you type. |
