Current Students--How do you like AUA?

    Advertisements

Hi I've been accepted to the fall 2017 class and would like to hear from some current students about their experience at AUA.

How do you like the professors? What is the community feel like (cut throat?)? is the admin supportive and helpful once youve been accepted? how does transportation work if off campus? have you had to wait for rotations? what is the exam setup? do you like the curriculum? etc

I've also been accepted to AUC but Ive seen quite a few red flags about AUA (albeit old) and was wondering if you had been accepted to AUA and AUC would you still have chosen AUA?

    Thanks

Like every school, there are good and bad professors. It's mostly self-learning. They have changed Med1 and are possibly going to change Med 2's curriculum as well. They are trying to get away from the classroom experience and delve more into the small group learning sessions. I honestly would much rather have a classroom setting though, so to each their own in that regards. The profs are friendly and have office hours pretty much all days of the week so yeah I guess you could say they are helpful to some extent. For transportation, school has already contracted a bus company that will pick you up and drop you off at your specific dormitory at various different times of the day. The price for the bus pass is 450USD per semester. If you want to rent out a car, it's usually about 400USD per month for that. Don't know about rotations yet as I am still in Basic Sciences. Exam Setup: 3 Formatives (2% each) and 3 Block Exams (18%, 23%, 33% respectively), but with all the changes going in with Med 1 and Med 2, I have no idea how that's changed if at all. I like the Med 3 and Med 4 classroom learning curriculum more than the small group learning of Med 1 and subsequent Med 2 lol but tbh I haven't been exposed to that new curriculum so that's my biased opinion.

AUA is not a bad school, if you put in the work and genuinely want to succeed, you will succeed. Although had I applied and gotten accepted to AUC, I would have gone to AUC. If you are already at AUA, then good luck!
