I can only speak for myself, but once I had my scores in my hand, I was at my first rotation within 6 weeks. Did 10 weeks of psych, had a few weeks off, and I've been going without a single week off since January 17th of this year. I have 2 weeks off for Christmas this year and then my last 17 weeks of elective are scheduled back-to-back through April 27th. That's 75 weeks of rotations completed within 86 weeks. Not bad if you ask me...

The trick? Be persistent. Be respectful. Be proactive. BE NICE. The clinical department is making some serious changes right now...Dr. PB is running the department now and he's the real deal. I really don't think we were lacking in rotation spots...we were lacking in administrative leadership. We've got that now, and the storm should be behind us. Good luck to everyone just starting out...

after getting all paper-work in by September 15th, I waited until Nov. 7 - so about a 6 wk wait-time for me too. Not too shabby

6 weeks from the time my paperwork was in....Everything has been back to back except for the 4 weeks Christmas break I'm about to enjoy. What Arkie said too....be humble and respectful. A please and a thank-you get you a whole lot further than calling and making demands a griping. Be flexible too. I told my coordinator I'd take ANYTHING short notice....also told him I'd prefer to go to Chicago, but that I'd go ANYWHERE. Coordinators love that. You've just made their job MUCH easier. Sure enough, I got a call on Thurs for a Monday start in Chicago. Once I got my foot in the door, I had my entire 3rd year schedule inside of 3 weeks after showing up in Chicago with all the preceptors I wanted.

Can u do rotations anywhere or do they have to be at one of the aua affiliated hospital sites??
