Thread: Can you do this, is this possible ?

Can someone from administration or person with right insight provide the answer to the following question: Can you take step 1 while you are doing 5th sem ?. And lets take in the assumption that are you completely ready after taking the comp and you want to give the exam while your 5th sem is going on ?.

is 5th term considered basic sciences? if so then no, per USMLE regs you must finish basic sciences before you are eligible for step I.

Do you even go to AUA?. I think you would know what im talkin about then.

Dude seriously?? Get a life!!! She has accomplished more than you at this point in her life. So what if she did not go to AUA. She is here to help and educate many others fellow carribean students. Just look at her previous posts.

Now back to your question, simple thing to do is call NY office and talk to registrar. As far as I know, AUA won't sign off your step 1 papers without passing 5th semester. Things might have changed is past one year.

Well and I imagine you certainly don't get to do much of that with a mouth like that...kiss your mother with that mouth?

And it's not up to AUA...it's up to the usmles and again they will not allow anyone who has not either completed a medical degree or basic sciences to certify....it's on their website if you actually were industrious enough to look it up.

yes.. i think you can take step while you are in 5 th sem .the only requirement the aua need to sign off step 1 papers is the comp score and as long as u are passed, you can write the step...i know few pple already did this..

angrydoc is correct, I know of three individuals that took step 1 before completing Med5. In fact, one of them got a 99.

yes you can take step if you are ready.. and comp is a pretty good indicator if u r ready or not. and med 5 is not part of basic sciences.
