510 points Ok, I read it too, and it seems they are just taking away the subsidized component of sallie mae loans. Assuming I have fellow students who have sallie mae loans, that are in forbearance, we are not effected by this, correct? I believe this is just a cautionary article for to-be grad students s/p 2012.

My take was it was for the subsidized Staffords going forward as of the applicable 2012 date. I can't speak to Sallie Mae loans since I haven't used them. It will affect people taking out Staffords for their MBA.

You might want to double-check your "facts". The tea party didn't support or vote for this bill. In fact, the tea party joined with 1/2 of the democrats in the House in voting against this bill (albeit for different reasons). The tea party (or tea ******s as you put it) isn't the problem here. It's liberal democrats and establishment republicans who are selling us down the river. Check out the Dow Jones and Nasdaq today. They all promised us that the markets would collapse if we didn't reach an agreement...well, we got our agreement and we're worse off for it. Reminds me of when they said we had to support BHO's Crapulus Bill or our unemployment rate would go up over 8%...well, here we are two years later with an unemployment rate of 9.2%. Talk about a bunch of mouthbreathers....
