Thread: AUA 5th semester crap !

This is for ppl who took the "redesigned" 5th semester @ AUA,

So far, I have not heard much positives from Falcon students about the quality of the program. It is rigorous, time consuming, and @ the end of the day, the Stats just don't work out ! Even the professors have admitted that it is a crappy program and should be done away with. This time around, I heard tht the COMP average after falcon was lower than the COMP avg. before falcon ! Is tht true?

This is my last semester of basic sciences. I just wanted more input from ppl out der who took the new 5th semester. I have heard it is bad, but can you just elaborate more on it in terms of how u went thru it, how ur class mates went thru it? Do you think it's worth paying another 14K and taking the 5th semester @ AUA ?

I'm not sure how 5th semester is done at AUA but self-study time is important. Even UMHS students complain about 5th semester but only because the ICM material taught was "gold" for step 2 CS not for step 1 but thats why we have Kaplan after ICM halfway through the semester. The timeframe of self-study is extensive during the ICM period and with kaplan later on. We're given 2 diagnostic exams and 1 by option halfway through the semester to see where you are with your studying.

Why are we having 5th semester back on the island? Is there an option to take 5th semester back in the states?

Wait, I thought 5th semester is in the states. Are you sure it's in Antigua? Thought it was in Florida, Georgia, or New York....?

the new 5th semester program is 6-6-6 ..6wks on the island taking the review course..6 wks self study wherever you want.. and 6 weeks doing im/fm 1 preliminary clinical workload at any of 3 sites..brooklyn ..richmond..atlanta..as for falcon you are going to hear mixed things there are students that just didn't give it a chance n said it sucked others who used it wisely and to there advantage and increased well above what they scored on their 1st comp..if you want it to work for u it will its just a lot of work and time ..best bet is to just test it out if it works for u go with it if not try something else..you pay either way so might as well get your money worth

I thought 5th semester was in the states as well.

it is..1st 6 weeks only are on the island the latter 12 weeks are in the states...6 week supervised self study & 6 week clinical experience

So what I have understood from this thread is that the 5th semester is in three parts, and only the first 6 weeks you have to be on island for the Falcen review class, and the last 6 weeks is either in NY, ATL, and BLT.

What is the deal with the comp...when do you take it hw many times do you take, at what point do you have to pass, and what scores...i've read some mixed info because of the mix up on ICM shelf and Comp Shelf, but it's probably just out dated info I'm reading.

Any real clarification would be GREAT,
