Thread: New curriculum

So with the new intense curriculum where the first two semesters' old curriculum classes are now being taken in the first semester, will attrition rate substantially increase due to not only more people failing but also due to people passing but not being able to maintain the 2.75 gpa for the loan? At first 2 semesters a year sounded good but now it sounds more intense since in the old first semester 3 classes were taken where as now anatomy,histology,physiology,biochem, dps, genetics, and probably some other classes are taken in the first semester?! Are the systems based blocks going to be split up as they are at Ross? Anyways that's a lot of shelf exams...

from what i've heard from my ICM teacher the new curriculum is going to be all small group based..the entire med 1 class will have 1 didactic lecture in the am in the flex room than after that they will be split into small groups with one teacher/supervisor for the rest of the day..the teacher/supervisor is there only to observe the students and direct the material, the students will need to know the material before hand and the teacher will not answer any of your questions ...YOU NEED TO BE PREPARED FOR CLASS EVERY DAY.. as far as what classes med 1 will be taking i don't know and haven't heard

At the end of med 2 you will be talking 5 shelves and the genetics local final....all i can say is good luck with that.

Any Med 1's who began with the new curriculum last August -- Could you shed some light on how the curriculum was?
How were the exams, syllabus, class structure?
