    Hey Everyone!

I'm Suzanne (but go by Jess [long story]) and I'm from NY and will be attending AUA in September!!

So I started this thread for people who have been accepted to AUA for the Class of 2014, or who are still waiting to hear back, and, of course, for those who've decided to go!

Congrats to everyone who got in

Is it b/c of a delay b/w completing step 1 and starting clinicals? I may start in september, but am debating b/w AUA and UAG, which actually is a 5-6 yr program. Any thoughts?

iwanabmd- could you expand on this? is it because of the clinical situation? sorry, i couldn't find anything in the clinical forum regarding 5 yrs specifically.

Yes, iwanabmd is being sarcastic b/c of the delay with clinicals.

Actually, the wait time for many students at this time is exceeding a year to start clinicals....the situation is worst by the semester........I believe AUA needs to out bid other caribbean schools for rotation sites. They have do something really quickly to remedy this situation.

dont need clairvoyant abilities to see AUA is now a 5 year program, just ask ANY student (probably a few hundred of us at this point) who passed STEP1 after December 2010 and they will tell you it will take 5 years to graduate. The situation I am talking about is 16 months to complete basic sciences, a 8-9 month wait time for rotations and then 72 weeks of rotations. Now all of this together may not equal 5 years exactly, but remember if you dont finish by that magic day (match cut off) then your stuck waiting until the next match, which could be almost another year if you just miss it.

to everyone who's currently at AUA, does it honestly seem like it's going to get better anytime soon? or are the next few years destined to be just as bad?

no one can predict the future, but heres some insight... AUA is taking in LARGER class sizes for a number of spots that has recently become SMALLER to losing Atlanta. so what do u think, better or worse?
