I am not sure but Canada has boiled water warning over 1600 times already.

I am not drinking in Canada except Miller Lite.

Most people have told us not to drink the water here. How ever, I also had an inside sorce on the island tell me that it's really just a matter of preference (taste). A current also told me (we live in Amor Villas III) that you would get sick pretty quick if you drank from the tap. Which was solid advice since I had already been drinking from it for a couple days. Knock on wood I have yet to experience any kind of symptoms!

My wife and I picked up some jugs and then boil the stuff via our Mr. Coffee to re-fill and so far so good. Probably a good question for orientation.

we asked the locals if they drink the water here and they looked at us like we were crazy. if the locals don't drink the water then you definitely know its not safe. a 5-liter jug of bottled water is like $2 US

No, don't drink the local water. Stick with bottled water from Epicurean, it's not even expensive.

Is it safe to cook with the water considering that it is being boiled?

The most economical water is the delivery of the large jugs. It's $15 EC per bottle after the initial deposit and they leave it at your door if you're not home.

The delivery service is called Island Coolers and their # is 775-2139. The deposit is $30 EC per bottle and the cost of a full bottle is $15 EC. SO, the first bottle is $45 EC and then just $15 EC each after that. I personally bought 3 bottles and just rotate them through.
